"Roux" bottle is a general term used to describe bottles used to grow different kind of microorganisms. The most common ones are large, flat -or square- glass bottles with a capacity of about 1 liter. People use them as large Petri dishes for growing sporulating microorganims which are then easily harvested by adding sterile buffer to the bottle.

Corning (800-222-7740) and Thomas Scientific (800-345-2100) make Pyrex Roux bottles.
