MadSci Network: Other |
Ghosts do not exist. There is no scientific evidence that proves that ghosts exist. Most "evidence" is anecdotal or "eye-witness" accounts that cannot be proved or disproved. Encounters with ghosts do not hold up to scrutiny, and at some point a person must just believe on "faith" that ghosts exist. Despite the recurring specials on Discovery, The Learning Channel, The History Channel, or the major networks the evidence is purely subjective. A wonderful book on the scientific debunking of such things as alien abduction, ghosts, visions, and past lives is The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Darkness by Carl Sagan. I have read it recently and found it to be quite enlightening. The late Dr. Sagan illuminates the human tendency to self- deception (even for psychotherapists and other medical professionals) that leads humans to believe in unproven. Sincerely, Tom "Scooby Doo" Cull
