I conducted a lab using a benign strain of Serratia Marcescens. Tje bacteria
was incubated at 25° C and 37° C. At 25° C the S. Marcescens turned red,
meaning it had produced a pigment called prodigiosin. My question is how and
why did the S. Marcescens produce this red pigment?
Thanks, Jared
