Subject: Project on the effect of using toothpaste to combat bacterial growth

I am currently studying Biology at Advanced level in England.  I 
intend to do a project on the effect of using different brands of 
toothpaste against the growth of bacteria.  I will be measuring the 
area of inhibition of growth in an agar plate and I intend to use the 
E.Coli bacteria.  I was wondering if you could suggest a better 
alternative bacteria to use in its place.

Also, I was wondering if you could send me some more information 
on this type of project, for example the active ingredient in 
toothpastes, and the  various ways I could tackle this experiment.
