Subject: What are the benefits or detrements of adding a cetane booster in diesel

I am curious about adding a cetane booster to my diesel
fuel to improve performance.  I have contacted a few manufacturers
and they have told me that it is corrosive in some cases.
I was wondering how can I increase the cetane rating with out
any harmful effects on an engine. I have contacted the manufacturers
and have gotten no reply.
