I learned in biology class that cephalization is one characteristic of worms that distinguishes them from more primitive forms of animalia. Cephalization occurs when a mass of nerve cells function as a primitive brain, thus creating a "head" region to the organism. However, I still do not entirely understand the advantages that cephalization provides these organisms. What are the advantages of cephalization to an organism?
