Approximately 1 year ago, I bought a 1 gallon plastic bottle of distilled water (normal plastic milk jug). I put it in the engine room of my boat in case I ever needed to top off the batteries. I never opened it or cracked the seal on the top. The temperature in the engine room varies between 40-100F and the humidity changes quite a bit. When I checked the bottle recently, about half the water is gone and the jug has scrunched inwards or imploded. Can you explain this?
