Beetles are insects whose outer wings are hard and must hold them up and out of
the way while in flight so that the inside wings can beat (these modified wings
are called elytra). This causes some problems for thee aerodynamics of a beetle, so
they are not the fastest flyers.

I searched for speed of the June bug flight and found nothing but I did find a
paper on the speed of large beetles like stag beetles so I would guess that the
June bug flies at a similar speed, of around 2 meters per second.

http://maria.fremlin.de/stagbeetles/flying.html

and another paper describes another large beetle flight speed so…..I am guessing
June bugs fly at similar speeds. One problem about determining the flight of
the june bug is that “June bug” is a common name for beetles that come in
different ranges of sizes some are small and some are bigger in some areas of
the U. S. and still some can be quite large. So it sort of depends on which
June bug you are talking about. Since they are a lawn pest the speed of the
June bug doesn’t yet seem to be a subject of interest to researchers hence I
couldn't find any info on their speed.

“In all simulations, flight speed was 2 m/s which is about what large bark
beetles such as Ips typographus can maintain in still air (Byers, 1996a).”

Hope this answers your question closely enough
