Hi Max -
Shrimp have a fluid called "hemolymph" which acts as their blood. The main oxygen transporter in shrimp and other crustaceans is hemocyanin, a molecule that contains a copper atom to help hold onto oxygen so it can be distributed around the body. Our bodies use hemoglobin, which contains iron, for the same purpose. The iron in hemoglobin gives our blood its red color; the copper in hemocyanin gives the blood of crustaceans (shrimp and crabs, for instance), arthropods (insects), and related organisms a bluish tint.
Hope this helps..
